Activities & Wellbeing
At QME Care we have a dedicated Wellbeing Team who provide residents with a psychosocial model of support, providing person-centred and individual psychological support in both group and 1-1 settings. The Wellbeing team aim to enhance quality of life for all residents, promoting health & physical and psychological wellbeing.
Our Activities & Wellbeing Coordinators organise and facilitate a varied programme of activities, encouraging residents from Queens House, Murray House and Evanthea House to participate. Popular regular activities include hobby groups; reminiscence; arts & crafts; pamper sessions; seasonal events, and our weekly Sunday Service.
Our Creative Therapist works with residents on a 1-1 basis who require extra support. This role receives referrals directly from the nursing team, and create individualised personalised creative therapy plans for each referral. This helps the resident to find a form of expression that brings about improved psychological wellbeing. This role works specifically through needs-based referrals, with residents who are unable to participate in larger group activities.
The Resident Companion provides cognitive stimulation and social interaction with residents on a 1-1 or small group basis. This role assists residents to participate in the activities they enjoy, such as hobbies or just having a coffee and chat. We also have a team of volunteer companions who are matched with an individual resident based on shared interests to enhance emotional wellbeing.
The Wellbeing Team come together each month to plan, organise and facilitate themed weeks. Recently these have included Seaside Week, Funfair Week, Fashion Week, Boston Tea Party, Campfire Week, and Winter Wonderland. These provide an opportunity to bring together residents, relatives and staff from across QME.
