A cheque of £500 was presented by Isobel Cameron to Kelly Brown, Chief Executive of QME Care and Ray Jones, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees in Murray House, Kelso on Wednesday 11th May following the recent memorial concert for her husband Dr Chris Cameron at Linton Kirk.
Dr Cameron was a much loved, well known, and respected GP in the Scottish Borders. He had a keen passion for person centred care and was always able to make a difficult situation seem manageable. He was diagnosed with dementia in later life and moved into Queens House, later moving into Murray House, it’s sister specialist dementia unit. He was a beacon of love, care and positivity playing his musical instruments to make people smile.
Following challenging delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and several potential cancellations, the group were delighted that the Linton concert was a huge success with Catherine Fish as one of the singers, also singing solo. Marion Dodd brought the concert together, and was to conduct the choir, but a positive Covid test on the morning of the concert meant that she was unable to attend. This was a borders wide event from all localities, a chance to come together for the first time to remember a remarkable member of our community.
His impact on the Kelso and full Scottish Borders medical community will not be forgotten and his memory continues which is evident from the success of the concert from his family and friends.
