QME Care

Our Aims

At QME Care, everything we do is guided by a clear purpose: to provide high-quality, person-centred care and support that enables people to live safely, comfortably, and with dignity. As a charitable, not-for-profit organisation, our focus is always on the people we support – not on profit.

Our aim is that everyone who lives with us experiences care positively, with a genuine sense of voice, choice, and autonomy in their daily lives. We believe that every individual should be supported to remain at the centre of their own care, with their preferences, routines, and wishes respected at all times.

We are committed to creating environments that are safe, homely, and comfortable, where individuals feel valued, respected, and able to live life in a way that is meaningful to them. Care should never feel institutional – it should feel personal, familiar, and supportive of each person’s identity and wellbeing.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to provide residential accommodation, nursing care, and specialist support for older people and adults with a range of health and complex care needs across the Scottish Borders. This includes supporting individuals who may not be able to remain living at home, as well as those who require short-term or ongoing care and support.

As a charitable organisation, we also aim to support those who may not be able to fund their own care, ensuring access to high-quality services regardless of financial circumstances where possible. Any surplus generated is reinvested directly back into our services, facilities, and resident wellbeing.

We are proud to also support wider community engagement, including activities, events, and initiatives that promote wellbeing, connection, and understanding of dementia and older people’s care.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be a centre of excellence in the delivery of quality care and support, and to be the provider of choice in the Scottish Borders.

We aim to continuously improve and develop our services, ensuring that the care we provide evolves in line with best practice, regulation, and the changing needs of the people we support. We are committed to innovation, learning, and ongoing improvement across all areas of our organisation.

Our Key Aims

To achieve our vision, we are focused on the following key aims:

  • To uphold the rights of all individuals who use our services, ensuring they are at the centre of care and support at all times
  • To provide safe, high-quality, person-centred care that promotes dignity, independence, and wellbeing
  • To ensure care environments are homely, comfortable, and welcoming for residents and their families
  • To support individuals to live as independently and meaningfully as possible
  • To develop specialist services that meet the needs of people living with dementia, complex conditions, and other care requirements
  • To work in partnership with families, healthcare professionals, and the wider community
  • To ensure our services are sustainable, continually improving, and responsive to need

Our Values in Action

Our aims are underpinned by a strong set of values that shape the way we deliver care every day:

  • Person-centred care – We recognise the uniqueness of every individual and tailor our support accordingly
  • Dignity and respect – We treat every person with kindness, compassion, and respect at all times
  • Autonomy and choice – We support individuals to remain in control of their own lives wherever possible
  • Community and belonging – We promote connection, relationships, and a strong sense of belonging
  • Quality and professionalism – We strive to deliver consistently high standards of care and continuously improve

These values are not just statements – they are embedded in our culture and reflected in the way our teams work with residents, families, and each other every day.

Working Together

We believe that the best care is achieved through partnership. We work closely with families, friends, healthcare professionals, and the wider community to ensure each individual receives the right support at the right time.

We also value the importance of community involvement and regularly engage in initiatives that promote understanding, inclusion, and wellbeing across the Scottish Borders.

Our Commitment

At QME Care, we are committed to providing care that goes beyond meeting basic needs. We aim to create a place where people feel at home, supported, and part of a community where they matter.

Above all, our aim is simple: to ensure that every person who lives with us is supported to live well, with dignity, respect, and compassion at the heart of everything we do.
