QME Care

Liz Ford commemorated for twenty years’ service at QME Care in Kelso.

The Chief Executive, Board of Trustees and Colleagues were all present to congratulate Liz for dedicating 20 years to QME Care. Liz, popular and much-loved mum to well-known Rugby duo sons Ewan and Ross started in the Kitchen with what was Queens House in 2001, and has seen many changes and developments through the years.

At the time Queens House was a 28 bed Residential Care Home with a relatively small Kitchen. Within the past 20 years Queens House has seen the development of additional buildings and now houses 59 residents with a large central Kitchen.

Liz’s colleagues gathered to surprise her with a presentation ceremony and a home-made celebration cake to say thank you for all her hard work over the past two decades. Liz’s dedication and loyalty was recognised as she was handed a prestigious twenty years’ service award and a beautiful diamond studded watch by Ray Jones (Chairman to the Board of Trustees for QME Care), along with a large bouquet of flowers by Kelly Brown (Chief Executive of QME Care).

Ray Jones said “Liz is very hard working and conscientious and takes great pride in her work. It takes a special person to work in a Residential Care setting for 20 years whilst adapting to change. Liz is a huge asset to QME Care who has the welfare of our Residents at the heart of everything she does.”

During the time Liz has worked with what is now QME Care, the Kitchen has produced over one million meals for Residents, catering to their every requirement.

When presented with her award, Liz Ford said “Thank you so much, this is totally out of the blue and I didn’t expect anything like this. It’s unbelievable and you managed to keep it very quiet. There’s been a lot of changes through the years and when I first came here for an interview, it felt right. It felt as a place should be and after twenty years, I am ready to retire shortly. I have seen a lot of nice people and residents; it’s been a pleasure. Thank you for this, truly, I am gobsmacked.”

Liz continues to work towards her retirement in February at which point she’ll be missed greatly by all at QME Care.
